Two cards

I was making cards over the weekend, but didn't have a chance to take pictures of them until today. I bought some really cool stamps at Stamp N Plus Scrap N. They had these amazing animal stamps that I'd not ever seen anywhere, so I took a chance. Holy cow! I got my stamps within three days, from across the country! And in addition to getting the stamps I ordered, which were very reasonable, I also got a whole bag of stamps as freebies!! I love when I take a chance and it pays off like that. Now I have another great company I can get stamps from!

This card uses their elephant and baby stamp. I stamped with Stazon on watercolor paper and colored in with Derwent Inktense pencils. I layered on black and Sahara Sand, and the base is Going Grey done with a technique called chalk dragging. The sentiment is from SU! Sage Advice. I painted the photo corners with grey acrylic paint and sponged them with black ink. The fibers are just some neat yarn stuff I picked up on sale. The black brads in the corner sparkle. The card is 8.5 x 5.5. It needed to be to accommodate the large stamp.

The second card I did is a 4 x 4 notecard. I used a set called Hello There, by The Angel Company. Isn't she just the cutest? She is stamped on Yupo paper and colored with the Derwent Inktense pencils. There is pink ric rac under the flower ribbon at the bottom. The flower embellishment is colored two ways - the pink was colored with the inktense pencil in the same color as the little girl's dress. The yellow was painted with twinkling H20s. There is a pink plastic flower brad in the middle, holding them together and covering up a big boo boo. That trail of dots actually ended at a butterfly, but I messed up on the coloring and it looked atrocious. So I fixed it by covering it up. Works nicely, no?

My first day of work at my new job was really, really strange. Not in a bad way, necessarily, but I'm just not used to being left alone to do things. It is going to be quite an adjustment. Of course, I got to pretend to be a hero. One of the switches went down, and being the new "network person", my job was to fix it. I unplugged it and plugged it back in. Well, the support guy did when I told him to - very astute judgment on my part, or pure panic, either way, and it reset itself. Very amusing, and very lucky. I do think, though, that I deserve to be worshipped for averting a disaster my first day. Don't you? :oP

The elephant looks wonderful! The little girl is just darn cute! I think the flower worked as a cover up! That is some quick thinking!

I am glad you job was good for the first day! I am glad that you paid for schooling to walk over and unplug it and then back in! LOL That is always my quick fix!
