First Post - Weird!

This is going to be very strange for me, writing out how I feel about the hobby I've come to love so much, pretending I'm talking to someone, knowing that I'm just talking to me. I don't even know where to start! I guess I can start with an apology. It's going to take me awhile to bring this blog up to par. I used to do web page design, but it's been 7 years and a WHOLE LOT has changed. I have to figure out how to upload a banner and then make a banner I think is worthy. Backwards? Probably, but it's the way my brain works.

A little background about the name of the blog. It's my mom's favorite story, and I'm sure she'll appreciate this when she reads it. In my family, if you don't have a nickname, it means no one likes you (everyone has a nickname, no one is left out). I have several nicknames. My mom adored me when I was a baby, still does actually, and because of that, I never got called by Michelle. Instead, I was Matilda, Matilda Lou, Tilda M'Lou, Missi, Miss Michelle, and finally, Princess Matilda. I was four years old, and I remember this so well, when I sat on the stairs and cried and cried because I didn't know what my name was. I don't think my mom ever called me by my name. Then, when I started dating, she once yelled up the stairs "Princess Matilda, your chariot awaits." My boyfriend was in the house. I was mortified. I hated being called Princess Matilda, but as I grew up and my mom continued to introduce me to her coworkers as Matilda Lou or Princess Matilda, the name really came to symbolize how much I mean to my mother. She really means a lot to me, too.

So there you have the history behind the blog name. Kind of sappy, silly, corny, but I am Princess Matilda, and my mother is the queen.

I love that you explained the "Princess Matilda" bit. It is very beautiful to hear about it. I give my young son all sorts of crazy names that drive him mad sometimes!
Thank you for your beautiful story :)
