A card I swapped

I have been very busy making cards for three swaps I signed up for. I have no clue what I was thinking, signing up for so many swaps when I know how little time and patience I have for making a product worth handing over to someone. I prefer to play and not have to worry about the end result.

Anyway, this card has been received and acknowledged by the recipient, so I'm not giving away any secrets here. I took a sheet of glossy and made puddles of alcohol ink all over it, then stamped and embossed and cut out the butterfly.

The effect is pretty dramatic and I really love the way these images look on alcohol ink. The technique is a Technique Junkies technique, but I didn't know that when I started messing with alcohol inks. I think it's called Alcohol Splash, but it is such an easy thing to do that I couldn't imagine anyone would need directions. I literally just make puddles of the ink on the paper and let them run. I think the actual technique might be more sophisticated (I'd have to go read it), but that's all I do to make such a colorful butterfly. The paper is Dreamstar metallics and SU. The stamp is TAC. The flowers are painted with twinkling H20s. I don't remember what bg stamp I used on the panel, but I am pretty sure it's from Cornish Heritage Farms.

We've been insanely preoccupied around here. In addition to my mother in law's extended illness, my father had quadruple bypass surgery in March and is back in the hospital to have his new valves opened with stents (is that how you spell that word???). I think it sounds like stints, but I'm almost positive it isn't spelled that way!

Other art projects. I have a ton of cotton to dye. I can't wait to wear the bright colors. I got a camoflauge tie-dye kit at Walmart to dye some t-shirts for my Doodle. I'm also working on ATCs for a swap, masculine cards (which are almost finished), also for a swap. I'm done with the ribbon card for swaps and will be mailing them Saturday. I also got more stamps from StarvingArtistamps. I am dying to get them mounted and play, play, play! I love that line from Kristin (is it Artful Inkables?? gosh, my memory is just gone!). I hope everyone else has had a very productive week with their craft! Thanks so much for stopping by. (Oh, and I'm planning some blog "jewels" when my hits get to 1000, so keep checking back!!).
